Price: £225.00. 'Buscot Park', 1938, from a watercolour on paper. This painting was commissioned by Gavin Henderson, Second Baron Farindon, a Labour politician and prominent member of the Fabian Society who had recently inherited his title and estate. Eric Ravilious spent a weekend at Buscot Park with his wife Tirzah in June of 1938. Ravilious described the country house as the grandest he ever visited and admired the park with its lakes, and peacocks and black swans that inhabited the grounds. It is both a beautiful and complex painting incorporating the stripes of grass in the foreground and the storm brewing in the sky.
