In the 1930s Edward Bawden and Eric Ravilious together encouraged several artists to live in the village of Great Bardfield in Essex where the two first moved to in 1931 sharing lodgings and well known artist community began to thrive known collectively as the artists of 'Great Bardfield. In later life, Edward donated over 3000 itmes of his work to the Cecil Higgins Art Gallery in Bedford. The collection includes all mediums Edward worked and includes work from his early days as a student through to the 1980s.
